Leaves Clogging a Drain Lead to Water Damage in a Home

After one of many storms had passed a call came in that the lower level of a home had filled five feet above the floor.  Not sure right away what had caused the influx of water, a thorough investigation found no broken pipes, but did find the back door which opened to the outside and went up several steps to the ground level.  The flooding in the home was due to the downstairs outside access being filled with water due to the drain plug being covered with leaves.  In no time SERVPRO had cleaned out the leaves from the stairwell drain.  The water was extracted from the home, and water damaged contents removed.  Once all this was done SERVPRO was able to begin the dry-out process.
